SARATOGA SPRINGS -- Oswego-based NPR affiliate WRVO took home seven first-place awards from the New York State Associated Press Broadcasters Association over the weekend, more first-place finishes than any other radio station in the state. Among local television stations, Utica NBC affiliate NewsChannel 2 (WKTV) was the top winner, with four first-place titles. And Syracuse University picked up a first-place and two "Special Mentions" in the college categories.
You may recall reading the list of AP awards finalists here back in April. Over the weekend, the AP named the winners at its annual banquet in Saratoga Springs. NPR correspondent Robert Smith was the keynote speaker.
Below is a partial list of winners, only showing categories which had winners within the markets covered by CNYRadio.com and CNYTVNews.com. As a result, there are no “Class 1″ listings because the Class 1 competition is limited to the New York City metro. Class 2 includes mid-level markets like Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester and Albany. Class 3 includes everything else.
