SYRACUSE -- A fake screen shot from "Back to the Future Part II" had everyone thinking this past Wednesday was the day Marty McFly visited in the DeLorean... and (thankfully) fans were quick to point out the hoax: McFly warped to 2015. But it was the real deal last night, when "DJ Sticky Fingaz" and "MC Hogweed" took Syracuse back to the 90s.
You might not recognize the names, but you'll recognize the faces -- "DJ Nerdy Fingaz," left, is Josh Grosvent and "MC Hogweed" is Hunter Scott, co-hosts of "The Show," mornings on rock station 95X (WAQX).
Last night was the first installment of "90s in the Garden," at Benjamin's on Franklin in Syracuse's Armory Square. Each Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30pm, the duo are filling the bar and its outdoor beer garden with nothing but "the dopest, dankest, fresh to death" music from the decade that brought us tunes like the Humpty Dance, Rico Suave and Informer.
Looking back, we've featured Syracuse in our Picture of the Week for the last several weeks in a row. We imagine readers in Utica or Ithaca might be wondering, "hey, what about us?" Picture of the Week is always open to reader submissions -- if you've got photos from a recent happening at your station, or a notable "blast from the past," we'd love to share them here. Send those shots to cnyradio@cnyradio.com or upload via the Contact Form. There's a new Picture of the Week every Friday.
