SYRACUSE -- Congratulations to a pair of former Syracuse radio broadcasters, who are being promoted in their current jobs. Jeanne Ashley has a promotion in Miami, and Kevin Keefe is getting ready to step-up his managerial duties in the North Country.
Kevin Keefe, formerly of Syracuse's 95X (WAQX), has been Station Manager of the three-station Community Broadcasters cluster in Ogdensburg since last November. By month's end, he tells CNYRadio.com, he'll be running Community's five-station cluster in Watertown. That group includes The Border 106.7, 94 Rock WOTT, Majic 103.1, 100.7 The Eagle and AM 1240 WATN.
"I'm really looking forward to working with the great staff there and representing the fantastic stations they have built," Keefe said. "Owners Jim Leven and Bruce Mittman are great mentors to someone like myself and I know that I still have much to learn from their experience."
Keefe tells CNYRadio.com that his current position in Ogdensburg will be taken over by Mike Guimond, who brings experience from managing stations in Massena. Keefe calls Guimond, "a true professional, and I feel like I'm leaving the stations in very good hands."
Former Syracuse and Utica-Rome radio personality Jeanne Ashley has some new responsibilities at her station in Miami. According to Radio-Info.com, she's adding Music Director duties to her existing role hosting afternoon drive for Cox Media's Easy 93.1 (WFEZ).
Ashley arrived in Miami in 2010, after spending the previous 11 years in Kansas City. Before that, she worked at Syracuse's Y94 (WYYY) and Utica-Rome's Lite 98.7 (WLZW). Easy 93.1 is Ashley's second station in Miami; she had originally moved to the Sunshine State in 2010, to handle evenings on competitor 101.5 Lite FM, but was displaced when the station added the syndicated John Tesh earlier this year.
