SYRACUSE and UTICA-ROME -- Despite the odd selection of March 9 (as opposed to the seemingly more-obvious March 16) for Saint Patrick's parades in both Syracuse and Utica, crowds turned out in huge numbers. And as always, broadcasters were a big part of those parades. Today, we've got three "Pictures of the Week" submitted by local stations.
CNYRadio.com and CNYTVNews.com issued an open call for photos on our Facebook Page and Twitter feed, both on parade day last Saturday, followed by a "last call" reminder yesterday. Here are the photos we received, in the order they arrived:
Our first photo comes to us from Oldiez 96.1 (WODZ) program director Davey Jones, seen at left, with midday host Chip Douglas. For Utica's parade, they had musicians performing live as their float proceeded down Genesee Street.
Next 93Q (WNTQ) morning co-host Ted Long sent in this photo of himself with co-host Amy Robbins seated atop the CHR station's giant boom box as they wait for Syracuse's parade to begin.
And here's part of the crew from MOViN' 100.3/96.5 (WMVN), posing in front of the giant mobile billboard which accompanied them along the parade route. From left, morning co-hosts Joey Walker and Heather Daley, with midday host Brandon C. Our thanks to LSM John Hunt for sending this photo!
Looks like everyone enjoyed the parades last weekend and we hope you enjoy the actual St. Patrick's Day this weekend!
Thanks again to this week's Picture of the Week contributors: Davey Jones (WODZ), Ted Long (WNTQ) and John Hunt (WMVN). We’re always interested in sharing a look at what’s happening inside your local radio or TV station! Recent events or notable “blasts from the past” are always welcome. Send those shots to cnyradio@cnyradio.com or upload through the Contact Form. There’s a new Picture of the Week every Friday at 7:00am.
