UTICA-ROME -- Last month, Shaun Andrews marked his 15th anniversary at 97.9 and 105.5 Kiss-FM (WSKS/WSKU). Earlier this week, the former intern who worked his way up to program director was recognized with a cake and a personalized plaque.
Roser Communications Network Operations Manager Dave Silvers shared this photo of Andrews, with his plaque. In case you can't make out the text on the plaque, here's what is says:
2013 marks 15 years in the radio business. Roser Communications Network's owners, General Manager and staff would like to extend deep appreciation for all your loyalty, hard work and dedication throughout the years.
Below that, Andrews' name is accompanied by "15 Years" and the logos of all of RCN's Utica-Rome market radio stations.
Andrews first walked into the former 102.5 Kiss-FM, owned by Clear Channel at the time, as an intern at the age of 17. Less than a week into the internship, Andrews was on the payroll as a weekend board-op. He'd eventually break into the on-air staff, starting with overnights and weekends before working his way into more prominent air shifts, and titles such as traffic director, APD, and his current PD title, which he has held since 2006. During the past 15 years, Kiss-FM has moved to the two frequencies it occupies to this day, and he stayed on-board as the two frequencies returned to RCN (who previously ran them against Kiss as "Wow-FM") when Clear Channel exited the market in 2007.
