UTICA-ROME — Don Wagner, who programmed or managed several stations in Central and Northern New York, has died, according to a public Facebook post by his wife.
According to his Linkedin profile, Wagner worked in several markets across the country, dating back to 1986. For much of his career, he went by the name Don Cristi.
It was in 2000 that Wagner arrived in Central New York, as the Ops Manager for the then-Regent Broadcasting cluster, based in Utica but also overseeing Watertown. By 2003, Wagner would become the GM of Regent's Watertown cluster, staying there until Regent sold the cluster in 2008.
After a few years outside of radio, Wagner got back into the business as GM of Leatherstocking Media Group.
After that, Wagner got back behind the mic, opening his own voice over business and doing some part time shifts for 96.1 The Eagle (WODZ).
As of this time arrangements are pending.
