UTICA-ROME — Don Wagner, who programmed or managed several stations in Central and Northern New York, has died, according to a public Facebook post by his wife.
UTICA-ROME -- What was originally supposed to be one month off-air has turned into more than half a year of silence from WUTI 1150. Repairs following some serious vandalism at the station's Oriskany transmitter site have taken much longer than anticipated. But today, the GM tells CNYRadio.com he hopes WUTI will sign-on again sometime early […]
UTICA-ROME -- Tower site vandalism is to blame for a full week -- and counting -- of silence from talk radio station WUTI 1150AM. The damage was so extensive, officials with Leatherstocking Media Group say repairs on the Oriskany transmitter site could take another three weeks.
SYRACUSE -- Longtime local broadcaster Dick Mastriano has been let go from his post as morning host for Oldies 1050 (WSEN). Management at the station, owned by Leatherstocking Media Group, confirms for CNYRadio.com that Mastriano's duties will be absorbed by another staffer as a result of budget-tightening.
SYRACUSE and UTICA-ROME -- From the "better late than never" file, syndicated talk show host Neal Boortz is getting ready to hang up his headphones. Boortz made the announcement live on his own program last week, heard on over 200 stations nationwide, including the two-market CNY Talk Radio trimulcast (WFBL/Syracuse, WMCR-A/Oneida, WUTI/Utica).
UTICA/ROME -- A problem with phone service near the Oriskany transmitter site of WUTI is to blame for recent technical difficulties at the talk station. While the station waits for Verizon to fix the problems, management says an alternate programming delivery method is in the works.
SYRACUSE -- Fans of CNYRadio.com have pointed out that WSEN-FM 92.1 traded in its collection of Casey Kasem's American Top 40 shows from the 1970s, instead airing AT40 shows which originally aired during the 1980s. It's part of the station's effort to modernize its overall playlist.
