SYRACUSE -- The staff at Galaxy's classic rock TK99/TK105 (WTKW/WTKV) are planning a special memorial tribute to longtime manager and on-air personality Mimi Griswold. A special 5-hour edition of Griswold's "Blue Moon Cafe" this Sunday will be followed by special programming for the remainder of the day.
The full day of special programming will pay tribute to Griswold, who died last week. She worked for Galaxy Media for 25 years, much of that time as the locally-owned company's VP of Programming. Along the way, she created and hosted the popular "Blue Moon Cafe" on Sunday mornings. Here's the full press release from Galaxy Chief Operating Officer Carrie Wojtaszek announcing the plans for this Sunday, April 12:
Join Us for a Special Blue Moon Cafe Tribute Honoring Mimi Griswold This Sunday on Classic Rock TK99
SYRACUSE, NY — This Sunday morning, Classic Rock TK99 invites you to be part of a heartfelt tribute to an extraordinary woman and the beloved founder of the Blue Moon Cafe, Mimi Griswold, who passed away this past week. From 7am to noon, we’ll celebrate Mimi’s life, legacy, and love of music with a very special edition of Blue Moon Sunday—a full day dedicated to her memory.
The morning show (7am–12pm) will feature limited commercial interruption as we highlight songs Mimi loved, take listener requests, and share a few surprises along the way. Mimi’s passion for music and connection to her listeners helped shape the spirit of the Blue Moon Cafe, and this tribute is our way of honoring all she brought to the airwaves—and to our lives.
But we’re not stopping there. We're keeping the music and memories going all day long with Blue Moon Sunday. Tune in for a full day of programming that reflects Mimi’s unique spirit and timeless taste in music.
