SYRACUSE — Following up on CEO Ed Levine’s retirement announcement earlier this year, his Galaxy Media is reportedly selling all of its radio stations to Albany-based Pamal Broadcasting. The sale is pending FCC approval, but reports say Pamal will take over day-to-day operations tomorrow.
According to syracuse.com the deal includes 10 stations, although Galaxy Media’s website boasts 13 stations between the two markets. The report also says the deal doesn’t include Galaxy’s events division — it was already spun-off earlier this year to settle a lawsuit over an unpaid million-dollar loan.
Apparently someone forgot to add cnyradio@cnyradio.com to the press release list because both syracuse.com and RadioInsight ran the same quote from Levine:
“I have been fortunate to live out a lifelong dream of mine for the past 36 years. Time and life march on! While I will miss Galaxy and Syracuse/Utica, I could not be happier to hand things off to Pamal Broadcasting. They are a committed group of upstate broadcasters who share much of the same DNA as Galaxy. Congratulations to Jim Morrell and his team, and best wishes for a great future!”
Both reports say a local marketing agreement will allow Pamal to assume day-to-day operations of Galaxy’s stations as of tomorrow, October 1, while both parties await FCC approval of the sale. No word yet on how much the deal is worth.
