SYRACUSE — Anyone who works in broadcasting knows there are certain times of the year you’re forbidden (or at least strongly discouraged) to take vacation.  Those are usually the most important ratings or sweeps periods of the year.  But in Syracuse, you can cross 12 more days off the calendar: The Great New York State

SYRACUSE — Clear Channel country station B104.7 (WBBS) is nominated for medium market Station of the Year; and morning show co-hosts Tom Owens and Becky Palmer are nominated for medium market Personalities of the Year in the 44th annual Country Music Association Awards.

New info added 9/1 – SYRACUSE — Clear Channel country station B104.7 (WBBS) and “a Syracuse-area television weatherman” are mentioned in a report by the New York State Inspector General’s Office regarding allegations of corruption against former New York State Fair Director Peter Cappuccilli, Jr. and other past and present Fair officials.

SYRACUSE — According to the Syracuse Press Club, the 10pm newscast on CW6 (WSTQ-LP) will expand from 30 minutes to a full hour starting tonight. SPC says Lisa Spitz will join Matt Mulcahy as producer and co-anchor.

SYRACUSE — It’s a busy two weeks for ABC affiliate NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV). Right after 12 days of extensive coverage from the New York State Fair, it’s the MDA Labor Day Telethon, followed the very next day by the addition of two more newscasts.

OSWEGO — Citing the success of last year’s contest, public broadcaster WRVO is once again inviting listeners to submit artwork that could be used on coffee mugs offered as incentives during WRVO’s upcoming fall fundraiser.

SYRACUSE — The money CBS affiliate WTVH-TV saved by shutting down its newsroom and moving in with channel 3 has apparently been piling up — enough for Channel 5 to take over the market’s affiliation contract for Live! With Regis and Kelly away from longtime affiliate NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV).
