With the legal wranglings concerning web rebroadcasts still up in the air, SyracuseBroadcast.com has begun "broadcasting" live on channel 1 from 9 to 5 Monday through Friday. SyracuseBroadcast.com's Brian Hofer says, "after a shot of new Road Runner customers started tuning in on a regular basis, a live midday show is the best way to go. It's a cool and unique thing to tune into."

'Teen Talk' moves to Hot 107-9

Sunday night teen advice program 'Teen Talk' can now be heard on Hot 107-9. The long running show which features a teen host and a pychologist or counselor who help teenaged callers work through problems has been a Sunday night mainstay on 93Q for over ten years. The Hot 107-9 incarnation, which is also simulast on Power 106.9, has been trimmed to one hour and airs Sunday evenings from 9-10 PM.

WCNY gets new logo

After using the same logo since going on the air in 1965, the Syracuse public broadcasting stations this summer plan to switch to a new one, with thinner type that emphasizes the "CNY" part of its call letters.

Former Syracuse journalist dies in Florida

Donna Speziale died Sunday, May 20, after a sudden illness. In the late 70's and early 80's Donna was a journalist for WFBL-AM and WHEN-AM, including two years as News Director. She later moved on to television news at WTVH 5 where she won an Emmy in 1988. She was 43.

Three more years for Jim Bohannon

Nationally syndicated talk host Jim Bohannon has signed a three-year contract extension with Westwood One. Bohannon's late-night call-in show airs on more than 300 radio stations nationwide, including WSYR AM 570 here in Syracuse and WIBX AM 950 in Utica.

Bruce Williams splits with Westwood One

R&R ONLINE has confirmed rumors of a pending split between Westwood One Radio Networks and veteran talk host Bruce Williams. A WW1 spokesperson said affiliates have been notified of the June 15th final air date for the show, but it's still not officially known if Williams will be moving to Las Vegas-based Talk America Radio Networks. Williams' show is heard locally on WSYR.

Z89 studios get a facelift

Syracuse University's multimedia center at 316 Waverly Ave. was rededicated Thursday as the Robert B. Menschel Media Center. In addition to the student-run radio station WJPZ FM, the $3.2 million reconstruction also includes improvements to photographic darkroom facilities, University Union Television, and a convenience store.

Pompey residents voice concerns over proposed tower

More than 60 people packed into Pompey Town Hall Monday night to hear about a request to build a 1,000-foot-tall tower near the corner of Sweet and Sevier Roads. The tower would be used by public radio and television stations WCNY. WCNY President Michael Fields had not expected such vocal opposition.
