SYRACUSE -- Two formats operated by Leatherstocking Media Group have made some changes to their respective evening lineups. At 92.1 WSEN-FM, Mike Harvey is now plugged-in for the 7p-Mid shift, replacing Tom Kent. And at CNY Talk Radio (WFBL/WMCR-AM/WUTI), the website schedule and logo banners still list Jason Lewis from 6-9pm, but a text scroller […]
SYRACUSE -- You might say they're a motley crew, even though you probably won't hear them playing any Motley Crue. Four WSEN-FM personalities recently posed for this photo at a gradation party for the daughter of afternoon host John Carucci.
SYRACUSE -- For our latest picture of the week, our congratulations to Bob Brown, the midday host at Classic Hits 92.1 WSEN-FM. Bob and his bride Cathy were among the countless couples worldwide to tie the knot on the memorable date of 11/11/11.
SYRACUSE -- Fans of CNYRadio.com have pointed out that WSEN-FM 92.1 traded in its collection of Casey Kasem's American Top 40 shows from the 1970s, instead airing AT40 shows which originally aired during the 1980s. It's part of the station's effort to modernize its overall playlist.
SYRACUSE -- Rick Buckley of Buckley Radio, the former owner of WSEN AM/FM and WFBL (AM) in Syracuse, has died. According to national trade sites AllAccess and Radio-Info, Buckley died this morning after suffering a brain embolism on Saturday. Buckley, who served as his namesake company's president for nearly 40 years, sold the three Syracuse stations […]
SYRACUSE -- From the "better late than never" file, we're told Dave Smith has exited WSEN(AM) Oldies 1050. A trusted source who wishes to remain anonymous tells CNYRadio.com that Smith -- who doubled as PM driver and as a sales rep -- has left for a non-broadcasting sales job.
SYRACUSE -- After three years outside of radio, Don Wagner is back in the biz. Wagner, who some may know by the name Don Christi, is the new General Manager for Leatherstocking Media Group's properties in Syracuse, Oneida and Utica. He replaces Judy Kelly, who left for a new gig in Florida last month.
SYRACUSE -- Judy Kelly will soon be on the beach... but in her case, that's good news! The GM of Leatherstocking Media Group's six stations is packing her bags and heading south, to take a new job in Florida. Her last day at Leatherstocking's Baldwinsville studios will be a week from today.
UTICA/ROME -- We're sad to report former (we're talking decades ago) Utica radio personality and programmer Don DeRosa was recently diagnosed with cancer. Friends of DeRosa -- also known to some by the nicknames "Polka Stoney" or "Donnie D" -- are organizing a benefit to help defray the costs of DeRosa's medical treatments. It's happening […]
