SYRACUSE -- Less than a day after NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) announced a big staffing shuffle, here comes another -- one that could arguably be even bigger than the rest. After five years away from TV, former chief meteorolgist Dave Eichorn will return to the ABC affiliate in 2014.
SYRACUSE -- Tomorrow is Tanja Babich's last day co-anchoring The Morning News on NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV), and in just a little over a month, meteorologist Chris Brandolino will be leaving the same two-and-a-half-hour newscast. Today, the ABC affiliate announced who will take their places, along with a few other staffing moves.
SYRACUSE -- It appears Sinclair Broadcast Group has officially closed on its purchase of NBC3 (WSTM-TV) and CW6 (WSTQ-LP). Although the change hasn't been made on the FCC's own website just yet, the new ownership became on-air official at the close of tonight's 6pm news on NBC3.
DALLAS -- Congratulations to former Syracuse TV news reporter Ray Villeda, who scored himself a 2013 Lone Star EMMY Award this past weekend. Villeda, who has been reporting at NBC affiliate KXAS for the past two years, was recognized for outstanding achievement in presenting live field reports.
SYRACUSE -- After Tanja Babich leaves NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) in less than two weeks, she'll be headed west to Chicago. It was revealed today that she'll be working for ABC's owned-and-operated affiliate in the Windy City.

SYRACUSE and UTICA -- At least two former Syracuse TV reporters enjoyed victories on election night. Jean Kessner was re-elected to the Syracuse Common Council. Stefan Mychajliw was re-elected as Erie County Comptroller in his hometown of Buffalo. And in Utica, longtime WIBX "Auto Talk" host Ed Welsh was re-elected to the Oneida County Legislature.
