Trudy celebrates 10 years at Lite 98.7

April 14, 2003 by Scott Jameson

This Sunday marked Trudy's 10-year anniversary with Utica's Lite 98.7 (WLZW). The station surprised her on the air Friday morning with a 10-minute montage featuring greetings from current staff members as well as past WLZW personalities including Randy Jay, Jeanne Ashley, and J.P. Hastings.
Trudy came to Lite 98.7 from cross-town rival KG 104 (WKGW), started out on the overnight shift, and quickly moved to evenings. In 1996, after Jeanne Ashley left for Y94FM (WYYY) in Syracuse, Trudy was promoted to her current position as the station's midday host and music director.

In honor of Trudy's anniversary, the cities of Utice and Rome, and Oneida County all issued proclamations naming April 13 as "Trudy Day". Utica Mayor Tim Julian presented Utica's proclamation live on the air, while Rome Mayor Joe Griffo, who was on an out-of-town trip, phoned in his congratulations.
