SYRACUSE -- There are changes in the air at Clear Channel's Newsradio 570 WSYR. The station is changing the way it delivers news during morning drive, including the addition of a co-anchor.
According to WSYR morning news anchor Alex Silverman, via his Twitter account, the "soft launch" of the new format happened today. Silverman said, "I do national news myself at the bottom of the hour now." (Formerly, Silverman only handled local headlines at the :30 mark, and national headlines were provided by Fox News Radio.) The local anchor admits the new format is "lots more work but I think it sounds good."
Additionally, Silverman tweeted, "tomorrow, I'll be joined on the morning news by my new co-anchor," Nikolai Busko.
Last but not least, Silverman indicated that Central New York's Morning News host Joe Galuski is now opening up the phone lines for listeners to comment on the day's news every weekday during the 8:00 hour. The number to call is 421-WSYR (421-9797).
