SYRACUSE -- Based on how things went last year in Syracuse, we expected Clear Channel's Y94FM (WYYY) would have gone all-Christmas on about November 11th, but the station held off more than a week longer this year, making the switch late last week.
On Thursday morning, the station was still playing "normal" AC music, but sometime before 6:00 on Friday evening, it had clearly gone all-Christmas. (Keeping us on our toes for over a week, was the fact that Y94's website had it's annual "Christmas makeover" several days before the playlist went wall-to-wall holidays.)
Just a few blocks from Clear Channel's studios, Galaxy's Sunny 102 (WZUN) flipped to all-Christmas on the first of the month. This is at least the third year in a row WZUN flipped did so during the first week in November (CNYRadio.com was on hiatus from 2005 to early 2008).
