SYRACUSE -- Local stations are once again in the running for the Academy of Country Music Awards. This year, Clear Channel's B104.7 (WBBS) is up for medium market "Station of the Year." Meantime, locally-owned New Country WOLF 105.1's morning show is nominated for "Broadcast Personality of the Year."
The nominees were announced this week and posted on the ACM website. The only other station in New York receiving a nomination is Buffalo's WYRK, in the same category as B104.7. They're up against stations in Tennessee, Virginia and New Jersey.
At the national level, the nominees for "On-Air Personality of the Year" include Blair Garner, whose After MidNite show is carried by WBBS. Big D and Bubba, whose self-titled morning show airs on crosstown competitor New Country WOLF 105.1, is also in the running. They're up against Kix Brooks, Crook and Chase, Lon Helton and Shawn Parr.
The ACM Awards will be broadcast live from Las Vegas on CBS Television on Sunday, April 3. But organizers say, "due to time constraints," radio award winners will not be televised. Rather, they will be "honored at a special pre-Awards reception."
