SYRACUSE -- Fans of the classic fare carried by "Me-TV" were pretty excited to learn, back in July, that WSYR digital subchannel 9.2 would become an affiliate of the network... starting today. But today, WSYR announced the addition of Me-TV has been postponed until sometime next month.
Our thanks to a CNYTVNews.com reader Scott Souva, who wrote in today to report the absence of Me-TV on 9.2, and to ask if we've heard anything about the reason. By the time we had a chance to check it out for ourselves, NewsChannel 9 had apparently already fielded the same question on Twitter, and the station had issued the following response:
@Sasafrass452 & @R0am3r - Me-TV will launch on digital channel 9.2 in mid-October due to equipment delays.

Considering that WSYR-TV owner Newport Television and the Me-TV network announced the new affiliation deal in July, we're honestly somewhat surprised to see this one chalked up to "equipment delays."
We aren't sure if it might be worth noting that mid-October will be one year since channel 9.2 teamed up with Galaxy Communications' ESPN Radio 97.7 and 100.1 (WTLA/WSGO) to begin simulcasting the afternoon talk show "Upon Further Review." The show airs weekdays on the radio from 3-6pm, with the first two hours being simulcast on television.
Back in July, we asked WSYR-TV general manager Theresa Underwood whether the Me-TV affiliation would have an impact on the Upon Further Review simulcast. When she didn't respond, we asked Newport Television's corporate headquarters, and they did not respond, either. Newport is currently awaiting FCC approval to sell WSYR-TV and several other television stations to Nexstar Broadcasting.
Attempts to see if the Me-TV Network website had any updates were unsuccessful; it appears the metvnewwork.com domain is hosted by GoDaddy. National media outlets are reporting all websites hosted by GoDaddy are currently offline after a hacker group launched a denial-of-service attack on the company's servers today.
Could it be that with Nexstar purchasing Channel 9 that they might add another channel, 9.3 for MeTV?
