ITHACA -- The conference room at the Cayuga Radio Group has a shiny new nameplate on the door. Last week, the Saga-owned cluster dedicated that conference room to Rudy Paolangeli, who has served at various capacities with news/talk WHCU for more than half a century.
Cayuga Radio Group GM Chet Osadchey invited Paolangeli to the cluster's Hanshaw Road studios for the dedication last week. In a press release, Osadchey said, "It is truly an honor to be able to dedicate our staff conference in Rudy’s name. To be able to personally present him with this recognition gives me, our staff, and area broadcasters a great sense of pride for all that Rudy means to us as radio professionals."
Over the years, Paolangeli has served in various on-air capacities, including hosting morning drive. He has also served in managerial roles, including sales manager and general manager. Even in his retirement, Paolangeli continues to host "The Rudy Paolangeli Show" on Sunday mornings from 10am to noon. He produces the show in his own "RP Media" home studio, which we featured in a CNYRadio.com Picture of the Week in 2009. If you're too far from Ithaca to catch WHCU on 870AM, 95.9FM or 103.7 FM-HD3, you can listen to the show through Paolangeli's website, rudyonduty.com.
"So many of us have grown up with Rudy’s grand voice, including myself," Osadchey said. "Personally and professionally, I hold him and his commitment to our wonderful industry of radio in the highest regard. Without question, I believe his passion and love for radio are as strong today as the day he started."
