SYRACUSE -- When the new CBS Sports Radio network launches on January 2, the lineup on "select stations" will include a graduate of Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Damon Amendolara, who was Sports Director of WAER prior to graduating in 2001, has been assigned to the network's overnight shift.
According to a press release from CBS Radio, Amendolara has been hosting "The D.A. Show" on Boston's 98.5 The Sports Hub since CBS launched the station's sports format in 2009. The press release says, "Amendolara promises a program which will be a mix of the latest sports news, discussions and controversy, in addition to interviews with tastemakers from the sports world and calls from night-owls across the country."
A native of Warwick, in the Hudson Valley's Orange County, Amendolara also makes frequent appearances on television as sideline reporter for Comcast's telecasts of New England Revolution professional soccer games. He is also an anchor on CSNNE’s Pregame Live and Postgame Live, among many other duties. Prior to arriving in Boston, Amendolara worked in Miami, Kansas City and Rochester.
Locally, Cumulus Media's The Score 1260 (WSKO) in Syracuse was included on the list of charter affiliates, when the CBS Sports Radio Network was first announced in June.
Well, congratulations to Mr. Amendola, but I was hoping the gig would go to The Fabulous Sports Babe (who's working at CBS's Tampa station in overnights right now).
