Staffing Changes On- and Off-Camera at CNY Central

WSTM WTVH CW6 2021

SYRACUSE — There are some notable changes in the newsroom roster at NBC3 (WSTM-TV), part of the CNY Central group of television stations. A reporter / weekend anchor is being promoted to full-time anchor status, and the Assistant News Director has left the building.

Via a push alert through it’s app today, CNY Central announced that weekend anchor Amanda Hull will be co-anchoring “Today in Central New York” starting tomorrow, September 27. Hull, who joined WSTM in 2020, fills the vacancy left by Frankie Jupiter in May.

Thanks also to a tip from a CNYRadio/CNYTVNews reader who pointed out the recent departure of CNY Central Assistant News Director Jana Barnello. Confirmed via a Twitter post from September 16, Barnello — who was recently named a “40 Under 40” honoree — has accepted a media relations job at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.

The Assistant News Director job is currently posted on the hiring portal for CNY Central’s owner, Sinclair Broadcast Group. The cluster is also looking for a News Photographer, along with a News Producer position for the WUTV Buffalo newscast that’s anchored in Syracuse by longtime WTVH fixture Michael Benny.
