SYRACUSE -- A longtime NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) anchor says he's stepping down from a prominent role, but keeping another. Meantime, there's a new anchor on the weekend wakeup shift.
Viewers who might not be into sports are still probably familiar with Steve Infanti -- the longtime sports director of the ABC affiliate has been co-hosting the 10:00am talk show "Bridge Street" since 2020. But no longer: Infanti announced that the Friday, August 2 edition of "Bridge Street" would be his last, at least on a regular basis.
Infanti explained he's not leaving the station altogether -- just giving up split-shifts to return his full attention to his original role as the station's Sports Director. NewsChannel 9 posted video of Infanti's announcement on the Bridge Street Facebook page:
Replacing Infanti will be frequent substitute host Erik Columbia, starting Monday, August 5.
In other news, our thanks to readers who point out that reporter Kendra Broddus, who joined NewsChannel 9 as a reporter in January, has been named anchor of "The Morning News Weekend."
