UTICA-ROME -- It's not often you hear one radio journalist interviewing another -- and it's even more rare when it involves people from two separately-owned radio stations in the same market. But that's what happened recently on "Hot Seat: Media Monday" on Phoenix Radio 95.5 (WUSP).
"Hot Seat" host Ron Klopfanstein checks in to share he recently interviewed Rocco Garro, the morning host of Rome-based WKAL 1450. Interesting point we didn't know: Garro got his start at the legendary all-news 1010 WINS in New York City, doing traffic reports in 1987.
After he eventually moved back to Central New York, he worked at "several local radio stations" and now handles the wake-up shift at WKAL "Talkradio 1450," simulcast on 103.3 FM (translator W277DR).
You can see video of Klopfanstein's interview with Garro on the Utica Phoenix website.
