SYRACUSE -- Updating a story we first brought you last week, CNY Central is reporting some minor issues on Monday morning, as the Sinclair-owned cluster moves CBS programming from its longtime home on WTVH 5.1 to its new home on WKOF 15.1.
According to a post on the CNY Central website, the stations acknowledge, "the changeover was intended to be seamless," but continues on, "we understand some customers are having difficulty accessing CBS programming."
As of midday Monday, here's the latest from the CNY Central engineering team:
- Spectrum cable viewers -- We have learned that the new CBS5 station WKOF will be available on cable at channel 2, and 1256. Currently, some viewers are getting a picture on those channels, some are not. We’re working with Spectrum to resolve the issue. Please keep trying.
- FiOS viewers -- We are currently working with Verizon FiOS to resolve errors in the program guide. The correct WKOF CBS5 picture is reportedly visible on channel 505.
- YouTube -- The program guide for CBS5 may be incorrect, but we believe the correct WKOF CBS5 picture is visible.
- NewVisions -- Also experiencing program guide issues. We’re working on it.
- Over-the-air (antenna) viewers -- In most cases you will not need to rescan your TV channels. Try tuning 15.1, and rescan if you can’t find it. The program guide data may be incorrect, and we’re working on that.
In addition to CBS moving over to 15.1, the "ROAR" network (which we've found enjoyable for its many timeslots filled with reruns of Saturday Night Live) has reportedly moved to 5.1. It was previously showing on 15.1 (since WKOF launched in July) with a simulcast on 5.3.
For the past week leading up to the switch, over-the-air program guides on the TVs at CNYTVNews.com HQ listed both 5.3 and 15.1 as "channel no longer available" even though ROAR programming was still running as usual.
