The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) will announce 10 Crystal Award winners at an April 8th luncheon during the group's annual convention in Las Vegas. Power 106.9 (WPHR) has been selected as one of a group of 40 finalists from across the country up for the award which recognizes outstanding year-round community service efforts.
Last week Syracuse's Radio Disney affiliate, WOLF 1490 AM, began broadcasting a digital signal. After shelling out $80,000 for the upgrade, the station is now ready for the day that digital receivers become available to consumers later this year.
Syracuse's newest morning man is Bob Schmidt, a 21-year-old Syracuse University junior from Batavia. Schmidt, who holds down the fort at New Rock 105 weekdays from 6-10 a.m., had been working for Clear Channel sister stations SportsRadio 620 (WHEN) and B104.7 (WBBS).

Former WSEN program director and afternoon jock Jim Asker walked down the isle with longtime girlfriend Cate Sanfino on 2/28 at a private ceremony in Nashville. Asker, who worked at WSEN in the early 80s when the station's format was country, is currently the country editor at AllAccess.com.
