SYRACUSE -- Although he's already held the post for at least a month, WCNY formally announced this week that Peter Spartano has been promoted to Vice President of Broadcasting. The award-winning journalist, who most recently held the title of Executive Producer, now oversees all television, radio, programming and education services provided by WCNY.

Updated 3/12 with arrangements and 3/13 with official obituary. SYRACUSE -- Rod Carr, a former radio and television broadcaster who later changed careers into law enforcement, has passed away. Carr, who was actively serving as the Chief of Police in the Oswego County Village of Phoenix, died this morning of an apparent heart attack.

SYRACUSE -- It's not necessarily all broadcasting related, but at least two local media outlets will be in attendance for an upcoming career fair hosted by the Syracuse Crunch. The Crunch and several other professional teams from all over upstate New York will be on hand to discuss job openings within their organizations.

NEW YORK CITY -- Andrew Siff, who worked as a reporter for Syracuse CBS affiliate WTVH in the early 1990s, is making headlines in the Big Apple. Siff, who now works for WNBC-TV, has been chosen to portray NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg in an upcoming press corps roast of local politicians.

SYRACUSE -- Membership numbers have been booming for student-run media organizations on the Syracuse University campus... and starting this fall, the amount of floor space devoted to those organizations will begin to catch up. SYRACUSE -- NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) chief meteorologist Dave Longley made a surprising announcement about his personal health on tonight's newscasts: he's been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.  His story is the basis for a report called "Living with MS," which aired on the ABC affiliate this evening.
