UTICA/ROME -- The easternmost cluster owned by Syracuse-based Galaxy Communications is looking to hire a new Production Director immediately. Here's the official job announcement from Galaxy VP/Programming Mimi Griswold:
UTICA/ROME -- Arjuna Communications stations 92.7 The Drive (WXUR) and 1420AM The Fox (WNRS) have announced "Forgefest," a 5-band concert featuring local favorite Showtime, along with four tribute bands covering the music of John Mellencamp, U2, Journey and Van Halen.
UTICA/ROME -- You might call it a chilly way to celebrate a birthday. Or you might be reminded of the recurring Saturday Night Live sketch where frequent host Justin Timberlake sings jingles while dressed as a mascot.
SYRACUSE -- This morning's intense storms are to blame for taking ESPN Radio 97.7 and 100.1 off the air for much of Thursday. (Updated Friday 6/24 at 8:00am -- the stations are back on the air.)
UTICA/ROME -- Starting this fall, radio coverage of Utica College sports will be moving from Townsquare news/talker WIBX to Galaxy's three Utica-Rome ESPN Radio stations. That's according to an announcement from the college this week.
UTICA/ROME -- There were some big changes to Big Frog 104's (WFRG) annual FrogFest this year, but the changes didn't keep crowds away. After several years at Verona Beach State Park, the concert was held at the Herkimer County Fairgrounds -- and admission was charged. The concert also included a rodeo.
PITTSBURGH -- Our latest Picture of the Week is not only related to local TV, but it also serves as our latest "where are they now" report. During a visit to Pittsburgh this past weekend, your editor unexpectedly happened to spot a former Syracuse TV sports director -- in the middle of pre-game Pittsburgh Pirates coverage at PNC Park.
ITHACA -- They called it "A Major Fundraiser" -- and they had good reason for the name. All seven stations in Saga's Cayuga Radio Group urged listeners for contributions to help bring a new police K-9 to Tompkins County after the previous dog, Major, recently died of cancer. Listeners surpassed all expectations.
SYRACUSE -- All That Remains is signed as the headliner, set to appear following five other bands on the bill for "Sausagefest," hosted by Citadel rocker 95X (WAQX). Tickets for the Friday, August 12th concert at Baldwinsville's Paper Mill Island are already on sale.
SYRACUSE -- NPR News senior national correspondent Linda Wertheimer will be speaking in Syracuse tomorrow night, sharing stories from her long career with National Public Radio, including her 13 years as the host of All Things Considered.
