Stations all over the country have been paying tribute to Michael Jackson, since the news broke of the singer's sudden death at the age of 50 on Thursday. Several in Central New York were among them, including at least two that threw out their regular formats to play the King of Pop's hits exclusively.
UTICA-ROME -- After more than a year and a half on afternoon drive, market fixture Bill Keeler is headed back to his old stomping grounds -- morning drive -- effective tomorrow. The announcement was made this evening live on WXUR, and at the weekly "Saranac Thursday" party, outside the F.X. Matt Brewery in Utica.
UTICA-ROME -- Educational Media Foundation, the owner of WOKR 93.5 FM, has responded to recent reports questioning radiation levels from its broadcast site in the Utica suburb of Floyd.

Original article posted 6/24: SYRACUSE -- Roughly four months since a few local radio personalities and comedians teamed up to form "Walk-Up Radio," the weekly podcast is hoping for a big audience for it's 20th show, which tapes this Thursday (6/25).
UTICA-ROME -- Former Kiss-FM (WSKS/WSKU) morning host Eric Thomas, who was fired last week after barely a month in the air chair, is asking one last favor before he leaves town. He tells CNYRadio.com, "my landlord has been amazingly cool in not holding me to a lease and I am desperate to try to get him another tenant." Thomas has even set up a website with plenty of pictures and info about the townhouse in New York Mills that he'll soon be vacating.

SYRACUSE -- The Spring 2009 ratings period doesn't end until Wednesday, but at least two Syracuse stations are getting a jump on some powerful promotions for the summer book, which begins on Thursday.
ROCHESTER -- On July 6, former Syracuse radio personality Jack Mindy will be calling it a career... stepping away from the mic after more than half a century. Longtime Syracuse residents may remember Mindy's voice from WHEN, WFBL and WSYR during the 1970s.
WATERTOWN -- Good news for fans of "Matt Mc's Sports Fix" on ESPN 1410 The Winner (WNER). Starting Monday, the show doubles in length, by starting an hour earlier. It'll air weekdays from 4-6pm.
UTICA-ROME -- Barely a month since he was hired to host mornings at KISS-FM (WSKS/WSKU), Eric Thomas tells CNYRadio.com he was given his walking papers today because management "didn't like the direction of the show." He has also blogged about the situation.
