SYRACUSE and UTICA-ROME -- Plans for a one-hour, two-market televised debate between the two candidates for the 22nd Congressional District have been cancelled, amid controversy in which one candidate, who was refusing to appear for the debate, is being accused of threatening to pull his advertising dollars from Utica's WUTR.

SYRACUSE -- Congratulations to a pair of former Syracuse radio broadcasters, who are being promoted in their current jobs. Jeanne Ashley has a promotion in Miami, and Kevin Keefe is getting ready to step-up his managerial duties in the North Country.
SYRACUSE -- Six graduates of Onondaga Community College are being honored as the college's latest "alumni faces" today. Among them: Niko Tamurian, CNY Central (WSTM/WTVH/WSTQ-LP) sports anchor and graduate of the OCC Class of 2005.
SYRACUSE -- While many of Michael Savage's former affiliates across the country simply stayed with the replacement offered by Savage's former syndicator, that's not the case in Syracuse. News Talk 106.9 and 570 WSYR has instead chosen to give listeners more of Sean Hannity.
DETROIT -- Former WSYR news reporter, anchor and talk show host Ryan Fishman -- who used the name Jay Fishman on-air in Syracuse -- has a new job. An anonymous CNYRadio.com reader passes along word that Fishman has been named Vice President of Strategic Consultation with a Detroit-area business development consulting and PR firm.
SYRACUSE -- If you've noticed there's something missing when you tune your radio to 94.5 on the FM dial lately, you're not going crazy. After nearly 30 years as "Y94FM," the Clear Channel adult contemporary station has a new logo and new on-air imaging branding itself simply as "Y94," minus the FM.
SYRACUSE -- There's a new but familiar voice delivering newscasts during morning drive on Sunny 102 (WZUN). News producer Jim Campagna from NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) is filling the vacancy left after former co-worker Keith Kobland left the news business nearly a month ago.
AUBURN -- Cayuga Community College radio station Win 89FM (WDWN) is in the running for two national-level awards. Station members are keeping their fingers crossed for Thursday, October 18, the day winners are revealed for the 2012 CMJ College Radio Awards.
