SYRACUSE — Radio versus TV… who will win?  You can see for yourself tonight when local broadcasting personalities from CNYCentral (WSTM/WTVH) television take on colleagues from Galaxy Communications radio.  They’ll be playing basketball to raise money for Golisano Children’s Hospital and for a local school teacher who’s battling Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

SYRACUSE — Tommy Nast of the former 94 Rock (present-day Y94FM / WYYY) was back in town last night, recounting some of the battles he waged against 95X (WAQX) back when the two stations were bitter rivals. Nast spoke at the Syracuse Area Music Awards (SAMMYs) Hall of Fame induction ceremony last night.

SYRACUSE — Nominees and Hall of Fame inductees for the Syracuse Area Music Awards (a.k.a. “the SAMMYs”) were announced yesterday during a press conference at the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que.  Sunny 102 (WZUN) morning man “Big Mike” Fiss had the honor of announcing the list of SAMMY nominees.

SYRACUSE/UTICA — It’s been 30 years since Dave Frisina started featuring local musicians on his popular show Soundcheck, and this Sunday night, listeners have a rare chance to hear the very first show from 1979.

More ink for TK99/TK105/WOUR middayer Dave Frisina.  A little over four months after making the cover of the Syracuse NewTimes, Frisina’s 30-year career in Syracuse radio is being documented by the national trade publication, Radio & Records.

Syracuse’s annual “Chick-N-Wing” festival at the Inner Harbor will be capped off by a special all-day concert called “Soundcheck Live,” commemorating Dave Frisina’s 30 years in radio and just about as long, his show “Soundcheck,” which features local musicians.
