UTICA-ROME — There are now two stations in the Mohawk Valley playing holiday hits around the clock.  Just like last year, Lite 98.7 (WLZW) chose today, the day after Thanksgiving, as the date to make the change.

SYRACUSE and UTICA-ROME — With Halloween 2010 just barely into the history books, two local radio stations are already looking ahead to Christmas.  And based on previous years’ experience (2009 | 2008) — it’s no surprise that Galaxy’s Sunny 102 (WZUN/Phoenix) and Mix 102.5 (WUMX/Rome) are those first two stations to make the switch.

UTICA/ROME — Six local country acts will be performing together in Herkimer later this month, all to raise money for a no-kill/no-cage cat shelter in Little Falls. Bug Country (WBUG/WBGK) personality Dave Silvers will serve as master of ceremonies.

UTICA-ROME — After a few weeks of all-Christmas country music, the Roser Communication Networks’ duo of Bug Country (WBUG/WBGK) stations is ready to unveil a “more contemporary” playlist tomorrow morning at 9am.  

UTICA-ROME — There are now three stations in the Utica-Rome market playing non-stop Christmas music.  Lite 98.7 (WLZW) made the switch early this morning.  It’s the first time in the Regent Communications AC station’s 20-year history that the all-Christmas switch was flipped before Christmas Eve.

UTICA-ROME — There are two more places on the FM dial to find wall-to-wall holiday tunes in the Mohawk Valley starting today — the pair of “Bug Country” stations owned by Roser Communications Network.  But WBGK/Newport and WBUG/Fort Plain are remaining in-format… 

UTICA-ROME — The Arbitron Persons 12+ numbers for the Fall 2008 ratings period are out.  Regent’s Big Frog 104 (WFRG) and Lite 98.7 (WLZW) still own the top 2 ranks, but the duo traded ranks as Lite loses nearly 3 ratings points since the spring.

This week, Dave Silvers from Utica’s Bug Country (WBUG/WBGK) heads to Albany to mingle with a couple of country’s biggest superstars.

Syracuse’s B104.7 (WBBS) has been nominated in both of the broadcast award categories for the 2008 Country Music Awards.  The station is up for one award, and morning co-hosts Ron Bee and Becky Palmer are up for their own award.
