Galaxy Communications Named “Business of the Year” December 21st, 2010 UTICA/ROME — There’s cause for celebration at Galaxy Communications: the company was named “Business of the Year” by the Mohawk Valley Chamber of Commerce. The Syracuse-based broadcaster, which owns six stations in the Utica-Rome market, was named the winner among businesses with 50 or fewer employees.
Syracuse Sportscaster Red Parton Dies May 5th, 2010 SYRACUSE — Longtime sportscaster Claude “Red” Parton has died, according to a report from ABC affiliate NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV). Parton’s career spanned more than six decades, starting with WSYR in 1939. He’d eventually work at a number of other radio stations before moving into television.
