SYRACUSE -- Congratulations to longtime local broadcast journalist Dave Bullard, who has exited his position as dayside assignment editor at ABC affiliate NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) for a new venture. He won't be working for any local media outlets, but he'll be working with them -- all of them -- at the New York State Fair.
SYRACUSE -- Every year, only 50 radio stations are selected as finalists for the National Association of Broadcasters' Crystal Radio Awards. This year, Syracuse news/talker WSYR is one of just three stations in New York State to make the list.
CLEVELAND, OH -- Tony Gaskins, who worked in Syracuse at channel 9 and WSYR radio throughout most of the 1980s, has died. Family members say Gaskins passed following an apparent heart attack on Tuesday. The Emmy-award winning reporter, known for his deep voice and unique sign-off, was 56 years old.

Although the Clear Channel-owned station still runs the news/talk format, news anchors and traffic reporters now end their reports "...on Newsradio 570 WSYR, now on 106.9 FM." A new logo on WSYR's website and social media feeds reflects the new phrasing.
