Brent Axe and his sports talk show "On the Block" returned to the Syracuse airwaves this afternoon. As we reported earlier, Axe is on the air weekdays from 3-6pm. His show is on Citadel's ESPN Radio 1260 (WNSS). He originally told us today's launch was not set-in-stone, but any uncertainty is now gone, with the show's debut moments ago.
You may recall "The Axeman" originally hosted "On the Block" on Clear Channel's WHEN before exiting the building during a wide-reaching round of Clear Channel budget cuts in 2006, that also hit Rick Gary (ex-WYYY, now WZUN/WUMX) and Skip Clark (ex-WBBS, now WWLF/WOLF-FM); and busted WWHT's DJ Maestro down to part-time. (Not to mention many ex-CC'ers in several other markets.) Since then, Axe had been blogging and podcasting for syracuse.com, which he'll continue with in addition to the radio show.
(A tip of the hat to Fybush's NERW and FMQB from 11/20/06 for the refresher on a period of history when CNYRadio.com was hibernating.)
