SYRACUSE -- He was best known by his on-air names "Johnny C" and "Johnny Vann." Former WNDR, WOLF and WFBL broadcaster John L. Creveling has died. Memorial services will take place tomorrow in Durham, NC, but an "audio tie-in" will be provided in North Syracuse.
According to his obituary, Creveling leaves behind his wife, four children, eleven grandchildren and several other relatives. He moved to North Carolina in 2003, and had served Jehovah's Witnesses as an Elder for the past 36 years. The Kingdom Hall on Buckley Road in North Syracuse will offer an audio feed of Creveling's memorial service from North Carolina at 1pm tomorrow.
This is my Dad -- a great man and a great broadcaster! He loved his career and worked at over 25 radio stations in PA & NY, mostly in the Syracuse, NY area. Thanks to those of you who sent nice messages to our family. We miss him a lot already!

This is my Dad too. He really was everything my sister said above . . . and then some. I would like to thank everyone, as well, for all the kind words, fun stories and great pictures you have all shared with us. It was all of your thoughts, prayers and condolences that got us through a very emotional time. Best wishes to all.
