SYRACUSE -- While he never worked in local radio, many will recognize his name nonetheless: former WTVH weatherman Jack Slater has passed away. Slater, who worked for the CBS affiliate during it's era of market dominance under the "NewsCenter 5" branding, was 76.
According to his obituary in Sunday's Syracuse Post-Standard, Slater died on July 25 at his home in Florida, with his children at his side. Slater was predeceased by wife of 43 years, Geraldine, who died in May.
There are no services planned, so friends or colleagues who may have sent flowers are being asked to make donations in Slater's memory to:
Hospice of Volusia/Flagler
3800 Woodbriar Trail
Port Orange, FL 32129
Messages of condolence may be posted on the Settle-Wilder Funeral Home website.
Thanks to the anonymous CNYRadio.com reader who contacted us after learning of Slater's passing.
