SYRACUSE -- From the "better late than never" file, we've just received confirmation that 93Q (WNTQ) personality Brandon C. is the Citadel CHR station's permanent night host. After two years as a part-timer, Brandon tells CNYRadio.com he accepted an offer to take the shift full-time in December.
The position became open in October, when former host Mike Cauchon left to program a new internet-only station in Maine. At that time, we were told existing part-timers would be taking turns filling-in until a permanent replacement was named -- but we never received any updates. Until this evening, when we heard from Brandon via email that he was offered and accepted the position on a permanent basis.
Brandon, a 2006 graduate of Cato-Meridian HS and a 2008 graduate of Onondaga Community College, started working at 93Q before he graduated, "filling in any time I could," he says, reminding your editor of his earliest days in radio. Brandon explains how he, "patched hours together doing on-air, production, promotions, and even a little bit of sales" before he finally got the call he was waiting for -- the call to host 93Q's night show full-time.
"I am a local guy, and I am very fortunate and happy I get to stay in this market and contribute to 93Q. Not many people in broadcasting get to stay in their home town," Brandon said.
You can hear him weeknights 5-11pm and Saturdays 1-5pm.
Our apologies again for letting this story slip through the cracks and our thanks to Brandon C for understanding the explanation: I run this site as a hobby in my spare time, so try as I might, I'm sure there are plenty of newsworthy events which don't get reported here simply because I never knew about them. Stories are never intentionally ignored. The best way to make sure news from your station appears here: email cnyradio@cnyradio.com or click "Contact" in the menu at the top of the page. If you'd prefer to just be an "anonymous tipster" just say so and NOBODY will know where we got the info -- if you really don't trust me, leave your name and email blank on the Contact form.
