ALBANY -- Even though Rich Lawrence and Kim Dunne are no longer part of the weekend on-air lineup for Utica's Lite 98.7 (WLZW), the duo haven't completely walked away from the microphone. Earlier this week, they debuted their brand new podcast, The Kim & Rich Show.
CNYRadio.com readers may have recalled reading about Lawrence's departure from WLZW in March, after the former Flashback Saturday Night host posted a farewell letter on the station's website. Dunne's final airshift was earlier this month.
What many may not have known is that Lawrence lives near Albany, where he has a full-time day job and he continues to hold down a Sunday night airshift at Townsquare rocker Q103. As Lawrence explains on his own AmiZed Studios website, he and Dunne have been engaged since December, and the two have decided to cut back on their commutes to/from Utica as they settle down in the capital district.
On the website, Lawrence explains the show's basic premise:
Kim and I basically sit down, and talk like we normally do at home about, well, stuff. Movies we would like to see, things we’ve seen online or in the news and just give our opinion and thoughts. Kind of like Regis and Kelly, but without Regis and Kelly actually giving you the opinion. I mean, lets face it, who could replace Regis Philbin? I sure can’t! And Kelly? Yeah, Kim could totally take over for Kelly. (I am under contractual obligation to say nice things about Kim.)
The debut, also referred to as "Episode 0 - Yes, We Know What We're Doing" is online now. New episodes are slated to hit the web every Wednesday at 11:00am, according to Lawrence.
Our thanks to Rich Lawrence for informing us about the new podacast... what's new at your station? We're always looking for more news to post here -- send your items to cnyradio@cnyradio.com or use the Contact Form or, as Rich did, tag CNYRadio.com on Facebook.
