SYRACUSE -- Time Warner Cable's 24/7 local news channel, YNN, has an opening for a web producer. Much like another job posting from ABC affiliate WSYR-TV earlier this week, the job entails repurposing broadcast news stories and video for the station website.
Here's an excerpt from the official job posting on Time Warner's website:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Write, update and maintain content on local news channel website. Rewrite and adapt broadcast content for Internet publication, including original headlines.
- Develop and create unique content that using hyperlinks, images, and video that enhance the broadcast content.
- Proofread and edit local content copy created by the news staff, freelance writers and content partners.
- Create and maintain video reports for website stories and special features.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that works well with co-workers, supervisors and customers.
- Monitor our social media presence.
- Create responsible and engaging social media conversation on various topics being covered by the news channel.
- Provide creative actionable ideas to enhance website content.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Four year college degree in Communications, Information Technology, related field or equivalent required.
- Experience with news writing, HTML and graphic applications.
- Proficient with social media sites and tools, and technology.
- One year of previous web site and/or newspaper-style experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge of journalism, Internet and online services and editing skills is essential.
- Must have strong command of the English language, spelling and grammar.
- Should be familiar with AP style.
- Must have the ability to efficiently perform research on the Internet.
- Must be able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and in a deadline driven environment.
- Must have strong organizational skills.
- Must be self-motivated and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Working knowledge of internet browsers, Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
