POTW: Ithaca journalist interviews Ed Koch (1989)

February 8, 2013 by

ITHACA -- The late Edward Koch was best known as a three-term mayor of New York City, and before that, as a Congressman representing parts of Manhattan.  Although he focused his efforts downstate, there were some occasions where upstate journalists had opportunities to chat with Koch.

One of those opportunities resulted in this 1989 photo of WHCU's David Stewart, right, interviewing Koch for the "Cornell Community TV Report," which used to air in several markets throughout the state.

Our thanks to Rudy Paolangeli, a retired WHCU general manager and occasional Picture of the Week contributor, who remembered this moment from more than 23 years ago and sent along the photo.  Koch passed away one week ago at the age of 88.
