UTICA-ROME -- Longtime Mohawk Valley radio listeners might remember him from his time on multiple stations including 96.9 WOUR, K-Rock and the former Rock 107. "Hard Rock Harry" Enea died after a battle with cancer, according to public Facebook posts from his family.
Our sincere thanks to a CNYRadio.com reader who pointed out the post from Harry's family, announcing his passing on Tuesday, May 30:
In a previous post, his family announced Hard Rock Harry was being moved into a Florida hospice care unit late last week, following an "advanced small cell cancer diagnosis."
WIBX 950 morning host Bill Keeler once hired Enea away from WXUR, to program a channel on Keeler's former online "MOVA Radio" platform. Today, Keeler posted on the news/talk station's website to reflect on his memories of Hard Rock Harry, along with another local radio name who recently lost a cancer battle:
Harry was a rock music encyclopedia and he loved being on radio. He'd been living in Florida with family and while he was well known here for his time on K-Rock and Rock 107, I knew him best for his friendship and his infectious laugh.
Rest in Peace, Harry.
As of this writing, arrangements and obituary were not complete, but the family is planning a memorial gathering in the Mohawk Valley. If you have any photos to share for a slide show that's being produced, you can upload them here (or see all the photos others have already submitted).
