Jim Lerch ending "Manchild" radio show after 22 years

June 13, 2025 by CNYRadio.com

SYRACUSE -- Longtime local sportscaster Jim Lerch has announced "The Manchild Show with Boy Green" is coming to an end this month. The show's final episode on The Score 1260 (WSKO) will be Friday, June 27, two weeks from today.

In a press release posted on WSKO's Facebook page, it is noted that "Manchild" is the longest-running daily local sports radio talk show in Syracuse.

Longtime fans might remember the show was originally titled "Bud and the Manchild," airing on what was then SportsMonster 620 (WHEN) in 2002. Lerch, who was also WHEN's program director at the time (and some may remember he also previously worked as a sports anchor for NewsChannel 9), had teamed up with since-retired Post-Standard sports columnist Bud Poliquin for the afternoon drive show.

The original duo stayed together for 17 years, even after Lerch fell victim to one of Clear Channel's many nationwide staffing cuts, in early 2009. A little over a year later, the show resurfaced at The Score 1260, in its current 10-noon timeslot.

When Poliquin retired from the show in 2019, producer Paul "Boy Green" Edsen Jr., took over co-hosting duties.

In today's statement, Lerch said, "When I started this back in 2002, I never thought I'd last nearly a quarter of a century on the radio. It's been my life's pleasure entertaining and interacting with our incredible listeners over two decades of Syracuse sports history," which included notable events like Syracuse University winning the men's NCAA basketball championship in 2003, and head coach Jim Boeheim's retirement twenty years later.

No word yet from Cumulus Media regarding what will fill the 10a-Noon slot on WSKO come Monday, June 30, but feel free to get in touch with us when you're ready to make that announcement!
