Shortly after thanking listeners for pledging $15,000 for the American Red Cross to help recent fire victims in Utica, personnel inside Keeler Productions on Genesee Street had to be quarantined due to a terrorist threat.

UTICA -- Longtime Mohawk Valley fixture Bill Keeler moved his show over to Arjuna Broadcasting's WXUR almost two years ago, but many listeners may not have noticed until earlier this month -- when the station's transmitter moved northwest from Frankfort to the more-popular Smith Hill, overlooking Utica from the north.

No More "North Country Classics" on The Moose

BOONVILLE/LOWVILLE -- Looks like "The Moose" (WBRV/WLLG) is scaling back on local programming.  Mike Szewil from CNY TV News says he was listening when host George Harrington recently announced the final edition of "North Country Classics."  Harrington had the 1-3pm shift since former host Kenny Youngs died earlier this year.  The Moose, owned by Flack Broadcasting, is simulcast on 101.3 WBRV Boonville and 99.3 WLLG Lowville.

Retired Utica Broadcaster Jack Fredericks Dies

Updated 9/17 with arrangements - UTICA-ROME -- NBC affiliate WKTV is reporting the death of retired local broadcaster Jack Fredericks, at the age of 84.  Fredericks spent most of his long career at the TV station atop Smith Hill, but he broke into the business while he was still in high school, as an announcer for WIBX.
