Peter Cavanaugh was a local DJ at WNDR nearly 50 years ago at the start of his radio career. He chronicles his time spent in Syracuse and in other markets in his book "Local DJ."

Through mid-February, Cavanaugh is reading the book in 28-minute segments Mondays through Fridays on WDET in Detroit. There's no need to head west to hear him though, the programs are also streamed on the Internet at wdetfm.org.

Stern still off the air in Syracuse

Howard Stern is back from his two week vacation, but not in the five markets where Citadel Communications had been broadcasting the shock jock's show.

For the past two weeks 95X (WAQX) has been airing bits of the Opie and Anthony Show instead of Stern repeats, but with Stern's return this morning, Citadel Communications has decided not to air the show. According to Stern, Citadel chief Farid Suleman is asking for payment of $200,000 for all of Stern's on-air mentions of Sirius Satellite Radio.
