15,000 show up for FrogFest XVI

With cold temperatures and high winds the weather wasn't ideal, but that didn't stop thousands of country music fans from showing up at Verona Beach State Park last Saturday for FrogFest.

The annual outdoor concert, sponsored by Big Frog 104 (WFRG) and now in its 16th year, featured headliner Shenandoah along with several local country acts.

Tom Tradup promoted at Salem

Syracuse native Tom Tradup has a new position at Salem Radio Network (SRN).

As director of network programming, he'll oversee content, direction and strategic planning for all of SRN's nationally syndicated talk shows and SRN's network news programming.

Tradup was news director at WRVO FM 90 in the late '70s.

Sarah Buynovsky moves to television

570 WSYR's Sarah Buynovsky said goodbye to listeners Friday afternoon as she transitions to her new position in television news at Time Warner's New 10 Now.

Buynovsky, a reporter and afternoon news anchor for the news-talk station, received on-air well wishes from co-anchor Jules Thompson and Bill Leaf who put together a brief retrospective of her time at the station.

B-Jam, the Post-Standard review

Joe Diffie headlined the 10th annual B-Jam country music outdoor concert this past weekend. The event, which is sponsored each year by B104.7 (WBBS), attracted about 6,000 people to Long Branch Park on Saturday.

Mark Bialczak of the Syracuse Post-Standard was there and reports that while the weather cooled off, the music sizzled.

Matt Johnson pofiled on All Access

Matt Johnson got his start in radio as an intern at WHEN in Syracuse while he was a junior in high school. He eventually wound up as a morning sidekick on Hot 107-9 (WWHT) before heading south to Jackson, Mississippi in 2001.

WRVO to keep This American Life

Fans of This American Life can rest easy; WRVO FM 90 has reconsidered its earlier decision to stop airing the weekly program.

Other shows might not be as lucky though. Studio 360 is being dropped from the public radio station's schedule at the end of the month, and The Splendid Table may not survive either.

K-Rockathon coming to Weedsport

Plans for the ninth annual K-Rockathon are taking shape.

The one-day event happens July 30 at the Cayuga County Fairgrounds in Weedsport. It's the first time the outdoor concert will be held on a Friday.

Modern rockers Hoobastank will headline the show which is sponsored by K-Rock (WKRL/WKRH).
