Tim Green to make Sunny 102 Book Club appearance

Bob Paris takes over mornings at WSCP

There's an old George Jones song called "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes?" WSCP listeners got that question answered today with Syracuse radio veteran Bob Paris stepping in as the station's new morning man.

Paris, who most recently worked at Oldies 92.1 (WSEN), takes over from Fred Lewis who had been with the classic country station for decades.

WSCP can be heard on 1070 AM, 101.7 FM, and 101.3 FM in Syracuse.

Joe Wilson dies in Iowa City

During the 1970s, Joe Wilson spent time as an air personality for WTLB and WRUN in Utica-Rome as well as a reporter for The AG Radio Network.

Wilson died Thursday after a brief illness at a veterans hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Known for his on-air sense of humor and work with veterans groups, his last stint on the air was on WADR in the 1980s.

Forum looks at broadcasting

With managers from most local media outlets in attendance, Thursday's public forum on broadcasting held at Syracuse University got a bit spirited at times.

Clear Channel Syracuse manager Joel Delmonico and Newhouse Dean Dave Rubin continued their debate over WSYR's coverage of last year's blackout, while Galaxy chief Ed Levine told FCC commissioner Michael Copps that new fines for indecency would be a "noose around the neck" for broadcasters in markets the size of Syracuse.

Mary Ann Hartley leaves WIBX

WIBX AM 950 news anchor Mary Ann Hartley is leaving radio for a position with the city of Utica.

Hartley will work as a floating secretary in a variety of departments, including urban and economic development, codes, information technology and the mayor's office.

Bob Schmidt exits 'The Dog'

New Rock 105 'The Dog' (WWDG) is looking for a new morning man.

Bob Schmidt, who has been with the station since its format change 15 months ago, is headed to Los Angeles where he'll take over as creative production director at Sports KXTA 690 & 1150 AM.

WWDG's program director, Erin Bristol, says she's entertaining all options in her search for Schmidt's replacement.

James Pond adds PD stripes

Stan Soboleski, better known to the masses as Froggy 97 morning man James Pond, has been named program director of WFRY and sister station ESPN 1410 (WNER). Both stations are owned by Regent Communications.

Soboleski got the nod following last month's exit of Matt 'Bullfrog' Raisman.
