The 12th annual 95X Rock Auction held at Shoppingtown Mall this past weekend 'rocked'. Thanks to an Ozzy Osbourne autographed guitar which went for $5,000 and an AC/DC guitar which fetched $2,005, the station was able to raise $16,800 for the local chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This year's grand total is more than double what was raised by the station at last year's event.
UTICA -- The dust hasn't settled yet over at 107 WRCK. The Utica Observer-Dispatch is reporting that Bill Keeler is considering legal action against Galaxy Communications over his termination from WRCK earlier this week. Galaxy had little comment about the shift in direction for the station except to say that Keeler's former sidekick Frank McBride will be taking over the morning show.
Watertown's Clancy-Mance radio group is adding three stations to its roster with the $1.45 million acquisition of classic rock WPAC 92.7 FM and talk WSLB 1400 AM in Ogdensburg and oldies WGIX 95.3 FM in Gouverneur. Clancy-Mance also owns five Watertown area stations.

570 WSYR afternoon talker Jim Reith is the subject of this week's Syracuse New Times cover story. Reith, a veteran WSYR newsman turned talk show host three years ago, discusses his vision for his particular brand of local talk radio, how he "likes to whine" on the air a lot, and why, in the cover photo, he's hiding behind a vintage WSYR microphone like Wilson of Home Improvement peering out from behind his garden fence.

The cable television show Women's Voices welcomes Y94FM's Kathy Rowe and Amy Robbins of 93Q as guests this week. With over 34 years of on-air experiences between them, they join hosts Lorraine Rapp and Linda Lowen to talk about their careers and discuss the role of women in radio.
Women's Voices airs on Time Warner Channel 13 Tuesdays at 9 p.m. with repeat airings Wednesdays at 5 p.m., Saturdays at 10 p.m., Sundays at 8 p.m., and Mondays at 6 p.m.

Former 62 WHEN news anchor and reporter Jeff Scheidecker died on November 26 of lymphatic cancer at the age of 46. Scheidecker's 23-year broadcast career also included work as a television news director at stations in Syracuse; Greensboro, NC; South Bend, IN; and Orlando, FL. He was most recently operations manager at WGGB-TV in Springfield, MA. He is survived by his wife and four children.
