Following yesterday's not guilty verdict in the assault trial of DeShaun Williams, the alleged victim, Hot 107-9's Nicole Wilcox, viewed the experience as a personal victory, saying, "I feel like I won. I stood up for myself. The next time he goes to raise his fist to hit a girl maybe he'll think twice." In defending her claim that Williams hit her during an altercation at a bar, an accusation Williams denied, Wilcox said, "Lies are easier to believe than the truth because the truth is gray."
570 WSYR is atop the ratings heap thanks to a 1.6 ratings points jump which nudged B104.7 out of its familiar number one slot in the 12+ ratings. Hot 107.9 took the biggest hit with a 2 point drop. The numbers are monthy trends and are not necessarily indicators of the quarterly ratings due out next month.
Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday in Atlanta for Keith Eubanks who died on Saturday from complications of pneumonia. Eubanks, who was 38, was a well-known national audio production and voiceover talent who voiced the sweepers and imaging of Hot 107-9 in the mid 90s.

Hot 107-9 morning co-host Nicole Wilcox was in Syracuse City Court yesterday to testify in the assault trial of Syracuse University basketball player DeShaun Williams. Commenting on the cut she received above her eye during the altercation, Wilcox testified, "I'm not a wuss, but it hurt." Several other witnesses said they never saw Williams land a punch.

570 WSYR weekend talk show host George Kilpatrick plans to "push the envelope" of local public television with his new show Access with George Kilpatrick. In the series, which airs Wednesdays at 11 p.m. on WCNY TV 24, Kilpatrick hopes to give voice to those with "strong opinions on often controversial topics."
Yahoo Radio is shutting down. The service which provides web streaming for hundreds of local radio stations will end its streaming of those stations within the week. In Syracuse that affects three stations owned by Citadel Communications: 93Q, 95X, and Lite 105.9. Yahoo plans to focus on Internet-only streaming including its own LaunchCast music service.
Gene Wolf, co-host of the long-running computer advice show Random Access, is heading south. Citing Central New York's sagging technology economy, Wolf plans to move to Florida by mid-summer to pursue business interests there.
Look for a new transmitter, an increase in power, and some programming changes at WZZZ. The Fulton station, recently purchased by Don DeRosa, will also get a call letter change to WAMF. DeRosa is also hopeful that a new Irish music show on Sunday mornings, which builds on the current Sunday lineup of Polka and Italian music, will help boost weekend listenership.
