WATERTOWN — Plenty of big fundraisers in the North Country this fall… in the past month, Stephens Media Group’s country powerhouse Froggy 97 (WFRY) has helped with a handful, including two just this week alone.

WATERTOWN — Longtime North Country broadcaster George Neher died today at the age of 65.  Neher, who worked for decades at WWNY radio and WTNY, was found dead by his wife inside their home at about 1:20 this afternoon.

WATERTOWN — North Country ESPN Radio affiliate 1410 The Winner (WNER) will be offering live coverage of all four remaining Watertown Red and Black home games this season.  The semi-pro football club’s next home contest is this Saturday.

WATERTOWN — The Spring 2009 Arbitron ratings for the Watertown market are out, and the “public” Persons 12+ numbers show Stephens Media Group’s Froggy 97 (WFRY) maintaining a very comfortable lead over the competition.

Good news for Central New York country music fans who enjoy hearing Bob Kingsley’s weekly countdowns — the host’s contract has been renewed through 2014.

WATERTOWN — Co-workers, listeners and other friends recently gathered for a benefit for the family of Bud “Green” Yeman.  The Froggy 97 (WFRY) afternoon driver lost two daughters and a soon-to-be-born grandchild during a Memorial Day weekend crash that also claimed two other lives.

NATIONWIDE — If you catch the top-of-hour news on WIBX/Utica, WTNY/Watertown, WHCU/Ithaca or any other CBS affiliate, you’ll notice something missing today: those quick little “chirp” tones that had been part of the newscasts for more than three decades.

WATERTOWN — It’s a double dose of something we haven’t seen in many a Friday around here: pictures from the North Country, and pictures from the past.  Tunes 92-5 (WBLH) afternoon host Johnny Keegan sends in a shot from his very first remote, and another bonus blast from the past.

WATERTOWN — Good news for fans of “Matt Mc’s Sports Fix” on ESPN 1410 The Winner (WNER).  Starting Monday, the show doubles in length, by starting an hour earlier.  It’ll air weekdays from 4-6pm.

As if he doesn’t get enough media exposure already, Ryan Seacrest may soon get an extra hour of radio airtime over 130 “On Air with Ryan Seacrest” affiliates, including a few here in Central New York.
