SYRACUSE — The WRVO Stations have announced plans today to host a debate among the three primary candidates running for Syracuse Mayor this fall. The debate will air next Friday and Saturday, but you can attend the “live-to-tape” event next Thursday at the Everson Museum in Syracuse.

OSWEGO — WRVO is gearing up for its Fall Fundraiser, and they could use your help.  The drive up to the Port City might seem long–especially if you listen via WRVJ/Watertown or WRVN/Utica — but they’re offering tours of their state-of-the-art studios and free food to help entice you to volunteer.

Updated 3:55pm – OSWEGO — The newsroom at WRVO is running without a News Director.  Station management confirms Chris Ulanowski is no longer employed by the station, a day after his profile disappeared from the Staff Page on the WRVO website.

OSWEGO/SYRACUSE — Longtime WRVO Corporate Support Representative Tom Herbert is heading inland, away from the stiff breezes on the SUNY Oswego campus.  He has accepted a similar position with the Mars Hill Network of religious-formatted stations, based in Syracuse.

OSWEGO — “Listen,” the official newsletter of the WRVO stations, is now available online.  The station says it will continue to mail out hard copies, but it’s encouraging listeners to switch to the online format in an effort to save paper.

OSWEGO — If you use your cable TV service to listen to WRVO, the Oswego-based NPR station wants to hear from you.  Apparently, it makes the station eligible to receive more funding.

SYRACUSE — The slate of Syracuse Press Club Award winners has been announced… and not one commercial radio station appears on the list.  In fact, all of the radio awards — including the Career Achievement Award — are being divvied up amongst two public stations.

OSWEGO — After just a few weeks of hosting the local segments WRVO’s Morning Edition, Jason Smith says he loves the job.  And while he feels at ease behind the mic, you’d be surprised to know he hates public speaking.

Governor David A. Paterson was all over Central New York today — both physically, and on the radio.  Here at CNYRadio.com HQ, we counted no less than three stations where the Governor provided live interviews today.
